The Kontrapunkt Collective is an international collective of four jewellery artists based on group exhibitions, common projects, regular meetings, and the documentation of work processes. Although they work physically apart from each other as independent artists (in Szentendre, Budapest, Glasgow, and Holt), their mutually developed installation methods and reflection on each other's work have created a unique artistic language. Their work has been exhibited in Budapest, Valencia, Amsterdam, Munich, and Tallinn.
For their third project Kontrapunkt No.3: I Are Here, the artists created the works while hiding behind the mask of a fictional character, the Muse. They defined the personality and characteristics of this alter ego and created their pieces through her perspective.
The aim of the Kontrapunkt Collective is to go beyond traditional curatorial tools and not only present works, but also to create a shared experience through personal encounters with the audience, where a real dialogue develops between the creator and the viewer.
The exhibition, which opens as part of the 10 th anniversary of Budapest Jewelry Week, has found a special home at the KuglerArt Salon, where a two-day series of events awaits those audience. The intimate space of the apartment gallery allows visitors to be welcomed by the members of the collective as if they were arriving at the home of the Muse. On the evening of November 6, the artists will welcome the audience with a dinner, where attendees can wear the exhibited pieces, thus becoming channels for each piece of jewellery. In addition to their free associations, guests can share their thoughts on the works of art using interactive cards.
The dinner-exhibition provides an opportunity for visitors to share the dishes dear to the heart of the Muse at a common table, as well as a space to connect with the works and each other in an unusual way. This meal will create the stage for a game where guests and artists will start as strangers and, through connecting with the jewellery and each other, will add their own voices to the pieces and to the Muse, and become, for one evening, part of Kontrapunkt Collective.
On November 7, the artists will invite the audience to view the exhibition and engage in informal conversation about their work and in reflection about the dinner event. (Ticket not needed for this day.)
